Men with erectile dysfunction are at greater risk for erectile dysfunction, which affects approximately 5 percent of men and 4 percent of women, respectively. ED drugs, including Viagra, Cialis, Levitra and Protonix, can cause adverse reactions, such as decreased sex drive, erectile dysfunction, decreased sex volume and/or difficulty getting or maintaining an erection. Men with a history of heart disease or diabetes, and those taking nitrates for heart failure, have a greater risk for these adverse reactions. Men taking alpha-blockers, including sildenafil (Viagra), tadalafil (Cialis) or vardenafil (Levitra) have a greater risk for erectile dysfunction. Sexual activity is also linked to a higher risk of a sudden decrease in blood pressure.
